About the United Kingdom ETA

The United Kingdom ETA is an Electronic Travel Authorization for travellers who wish to visit the country for stays of up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business activities or to study.

You can also come to the UK for up to 3 months on the Creative Worker Visa concession on the United Kingdom ETA. It’s also necessary to transit through the UK, including if you’re not going through UK border control.

The United Kingdom ETA is granted through an online application system. It was introduced to simplify visa processes for citizens of eligible countries who want to travel for short-term stays.

The United Kingdom ETA can be obtained by completing a simple and straightforward online application form. Applicants must provide their personal details, travel information and passport data.

Once approved, the United Kingdom ETA is valid for a total of 2 years, or until the associated passport expires. It allows the holder to visit the UK multiple times during its validity.

To enter the UK with an approved United Kingdom ETA, you need to either use an ePassport gate if you’re eligible, or see a Border Force officer.

Please note that the United Kingdom ETA does not guarantee entry to the UK: the final decision will be made by immigration officials at the border.

Note that you will not need a United Kingdom ETA if you have:

• A British or Irish passport.
• Permission to live, work or study in the UK.
• A visa to enter the UK.

Or if all the following apply:

• You are legally resident in Ireland and can prove this with an Irish Residence Permit, Irish driving license, etc.)
• You do not need a visa to enter the UK.
• You are entering the UK from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man.

Documentation requirements for United Kingdom ETA

Applicants need to provide personal details, passport, and travel information. The applicant’s passport must be from an eligible country.

It is also necessary to upload a photograph of the applicant and a digital image of the passport biographical page to submit the application.
